Read Some Historical Fiction

Are there any works of historical fiction written about the area or time period in which your ancestors lived? Fiction is fiction admittedly, but if well-written and historically accurate, it may give you some insight into your ancestor's life and experiences.

And that's never a bad thing.

Just don't cite the fictional work as a fact (grin!).

  1. For anyone who likes to read historical novels and who is interested in early North Carolina, I highly recommend the books written many years ago by Inglis Fletcher. They seem to have been especially well researched, and she wrote books that one need not be a genealogist to enjoy.
